General FAQs
Where are classes held?
Classes are held at the Robert & Judi Newman Center for Theatre Education: 1101 13th Street, Denver, CO 80204 on the third floor across the street from downtown’s Arts Complex. MAP
What parking options are available?
There is metered street parking around our building and the city owned Denver Performing Arts Complex parking garage is located across the street. Information about other garages in the area can be found here on our website. Because of our downtown location parking is at a premium, please always allow a little extra time to allow for construction and other downtown events.
What happens if a class session is cancelled?
If a class session is cancelled due to inclement weather or other circumstances, DCPA will schedule a make-up class session. Rescheduling happens infrequently and we strive to cancel only due to unforeseen circumstances.

Are payment plans available?
For classes starting more than two months from the purchase date, we offer a monthly installment option. For classes starting in less than two months, bi-weekly installments are available. All classes must be fully paid before the first class meeting.
Purchasing multiple classes? Great! If one of your selections is within two months, the bi-weekly plan will be offered for all classes. Even better – contact our registration team who can help build a multi-class payment plan schedule for you.
Adult Class FAQs
What is your refund policy?
Adult Classes Fall, Winter, and Spring Sessions
- 90% refund available up to 3 weeks before class start date.
- 75% refund available from 3 weeks before until one week before class start date and time.
- No refunds are available less than one week before class start date and time.
- If a class session is cancelled due to inclement weather or DCPA schedule shift due to instructor illness, DCPA will schedule a make-up class session. Rescheduling happens infrequently and we strive to cancel only due to unforeseen circumstances.

What happens if I am absent from class? Can I make up the class or receive a refund?
We strive for 100% attendance in our classes. Pro-rated refunds or make-up classes are not available for student absences. If you will need to miss class for any reason, please email education@dcpa.org.
What should I wear to class?
There is no dress code in classes but please wear clothes that allow free movement.
What should I bring?

What is your refund policy?

What should my student wear?
There is no dress code in classes but please wear clothes that allow free movement.
What should my student bring?
About a week before class, you will receive an email with a class syllabus and any other information or materials you need to be successful on your first day. We recommend all students bring a water bottle with their name on it.
Where can I wait while my student is in class?
During our Saturday classes, parents are welcome to stay in the building. There are sevral reception areas with free Wi-Fi for you to use. Additionally, our downtown location is near a variety of coffee shops and cafes. We are not able to host family or friends on site during our summer camps.
How does drop off and pick up work for Saturday classes?
Different from our summer programs, drop off and pick up will take place at your classroom door on the 3rd floor. If you have a teen student (Middle School or above) and you would like to give permission for them to arrive and leave class unaccompanied you may do so when you fill out the Emergency Contact form.
How do I know I can trust your instructors?

Daniel L. Ritchie Scholarship Program FAQ
What is the Daniel L. Ritchie Scholarship Program and who can apply?
The Daniel L. Ritchie Scholarship Program provides financial assistance to help youth and adult students participate in DCPA Education & Community Engagement classes. Scholarship awards are based on information provided in the application and the availability of funds. Both youth and adult students are welcome to apply.
How often can I apply for a scholarship?
Students can apply for up to 10 classes each year (Fall-Summer) but a new application is required each time additional classes are requested. Scholarships cannot be transferred between sessions. Previous scholarship recipients are welcome to apply again.
How many classes can I request?
Students may apply for scholarships for up to 10 classes per year (Fall–Summer sessions).
What is the application process?
Applications are accepted until one week before the class start date and typically take 1–2 weeks to process. Applicants will be notified by email regarding their scholarship status.
Should I register for classes before receiving a scholarship decision?
No. If you are applying for a scholarship, do not register for the class separately online. Once an application is received, the Registrar will hold a spot in the requested class(es) based on availability. If a class is already full, you will be placed on the waitlist and may receive a scholarship offer if a spot becomes available.
What financial information is required?
Applicants are asked to provide household income and household information so DCPA can assess financial need and distribute scholarship funds fairly. Proof of income is not required. Participation in government assistance programs is not required to qualify, and applicants may share any special financial circumstances that should be considered during the review process.
Can multiple members of the same family apply?
Yes. Multiple family members may apply for scholarship assistance, but each applicant must submit a separate application.
What happens if I receive a scholarship?
Scholarship recipients must confirm acceptance within one week of notification, complete registration, and pay any remaining balance before the first class. Failure to respond or submit payment by the deadline may result in the scholarship being forfeited. Scholarship recipients are expected to attend all scheduled classes, and excessive absences may affect future scholarship eligibility.
What if I need to withdraw from a class?
If a student withdraws from a class after receiving a scholarship and paying their balance, DCPA’s standard refund policies will apply.
